Welcome to Songs of Salvation! Each Sunday I will feature a Christian author sharing a "Song of Salvation" to uplift and encourage believers and glorify God.
And they overcame him because of the blood of the Lamb and because of the word of their testimony, and they did not love their life even when faced with death. Revelation 12:11 NLT
Authors, find out how to share your Song of Salvation here.
When I announced that God had called me to write, someone asked, “Are you going to write your life story?” My answer—no. No one would believe that much bad stuff could happen to one person.
Thank God, I was awakened to what salvation truly meant at the age of seven. The Sunday school teacher spoke about everything Christ had done, and for the first time I realized He had done it for me. I didn’t get saved that day. I had to think about it, analyze it to death, because that’s what I do.
God knew how important salvation would be for my life, not only because I’d need it to get into Heaven, but because He knew what I would face in life. So He sent me a dream. I saw Jesus hanging on the cross so vividly in that dream that I can still picture it today. I couldn’t wait for Sunday to come again. When the call was given to those who wanted to get saved, my hand was the first one up.
I honestly believed that if I had not surrendered to God as a child, I never would have been saved. Less than two years later, my world fell apart and the rest of my life’s story is probably worse than most people can imagine. When the horror started, I became angry and bitter. I blamed God for everything that happened.
The Bible says He will never leave nor forsake his children, and I am no exception. He wouldn’t leave me alone. Even at my worst, I could feel him calling me back. He never stopped trying to heal my broken spirit. And even after I returned to him, He constantly works on me so I can in turn reach out to help his people through writing but also through face-to-face conversations I’ve had over the years with hurting individuals.
God has taken what was meant for harm and uses it for good.
