Isn’t it interesting how independent we want to be? Even from the earliest years, we exclaim “Me do it!”
Having others tell me how to do things can grate on me and make me feel incompetent. Like I’m not good enough, smart enough. Or something!
I think this is one of the reasons the idea of earning our salvation is so appealing and popular. The Pharisees had their rules and as long as they followed them, they felt they were righteous.
Our most fervent wishes and most valiant efforts will never be enough. Because we continually fail to attain the perfect standard God has set.
It is by grace you have been saved through faith and this not from yourselves; it is the gift of God, not by works, so that no one can boast.
Stop striving to be enough for God. After you realize you can’t gain His approval or His righteousness by doing good works, you will find that God Himself has already provided all you need. And because He is more than enough, you don’t have to be!

Family…country…or the woman he loves…
Navy Seal Ford Marshall isn’t the kind to stand by and let a woman get hurt—especially when it involves his twin sister, RJ. So, when she makes the news, accused of sparking an international incident, he doesn’t care what it takes—he’s going to find her and bring her home.
But he might need a little help, so he calls on the woman who has had his back during the last three years—Petty Officer Scarlett Hathaway, former communications expert-turned Rescue Swimmer candidate. She’ll help him get into the country, watch his back, and…well, they might be able to have one last mission together before she leaves for a new life, a life he very much wants to be a part of now that she is off his team. Maybe he can convince her to give them a chance to kindle the spark that’s simmered between them for years.
Scarlett Hathaway isn’t sure what future she wants—not when she suddenly has to care for her little brother. Maybe she should quit the Navy and start a life with the man she can’t seem to get out of her heart. So yes, she’ll help Ford find his sister. And maybe, along the way, figure out if they have a future.
But finding RJ somewhere in the vastness of Russia with the FSB chasing them will push Scarlett beyond even her courage and make her question everything she thought she wanted…including Ford. What will it cost her to love a man who saves the world?
And when Ford is asked to choose between saving his sister, saving the world from a war, and rescuing the woman he loves…can he live with his decision?
I would like to thank Just Read Publicity Tours for giving me this copy of the book. This gift did not influence my opinion or review. Also in this series: Knox, Tate , Wyatt
Ford’s poor choice when he was twelve haunted him his entire life. Drove him to reckless actions and had him isolating himself.
This fast-paced, edge-of-your-seat story has Ford dashing around the world in an attempt to rescue his twin sister, RJ. As he and Scarlett find themselves deep in Russia with fake passports and without the sanction of their SEAL team, they fight to save RJ and to get out of the country alive.
RJ wasn’t at all what I was expecting. With the hints in previous stories of her involvement with the CIA, I figured she was an agent, out daily subjecting herself to numerous risks and perils. When the truth is revealed, it is clear that her situation is even more precarious than I imagined. I fell in love with this plucky woman who pushed herself beyond her limits time and time again simply because she had to!
I love the way Susan May Warren has crafted this series where each book seems to entangle the Marshall brothers more deeply into something much bigger than anyone had imagined (particularly me!) As more pieces come together, the individual stories are clearly a part of a much larger puzzle. I can’t wait to see what the big picture will turn out to be!
High suspense, powerful romance, and deep spiritual truths fill the pages of this fascinating story. Be sure to read Knox and Tate first, though, and be prepared for Wyatt and Ruby Jane’s stories to conclude the fascinating Montana Marshalls series in coming months.
