I’m so pleased to have Andrea Boyd with me today to talk about herself and her newest book, Waiting for You which just released yesterday. Though I have my review scheduled for next week, I didn’t want to wait to let you know about this lovely story!
Andrea, thank you so much for taking the time to visit with us today!
If you had the opportunity to live anywhere in the world for a year while writing a book that took place in that same setting, where would you go?
I want to say Italy because I’ve always dreamed of visiting, but I would probably choose Germany. If I ever decide to write historical fiction, I already have an idea for a book that starts out there based on some of my ancestors.
That sounds great!
Other than the ability to create your own happily-ever-after endings, what is your favorite thing about being an author?
I love hearing from my readers that one of my stories helped them in some way.
What are you working on now?
I’m working on a Christmas story that will go into a collection with five other authors.
What is the most fun thing you did in the name of researching one of your books?
I made several trips to Myrtle Beach to scope out locations mentioned in my Walden Beach series.
What is your favorite book or character that you’ve written?
Hands down- Sheba Burris from Love’s Redemption. God used her in a most profound way. Even though she isn’t the main character of the book, I think she is the most important one I’ve ever written.
Now I feel like I need to re-read it to remind myself of Sheba!
What is your favorite genre to write, and why?
I moved to contemporary because that’s what God called me to do, but I really enjoyed writing fantasy.
What is your favorite thing about being a writer?
When a story idea first strikes and scenes are playing through my head faster than I can write.
Please tell us what inspired Waiting for You.
What in particular do you hope your readers will take away from your story?
I want them to question who God is to them.
This comes through so clearly!
Please describe the setting. What prompted you to choose the location you did?
I love to make up towns and give them surroundings readers will recognize. Shiloh represents York, SC, the town I grew up in.
Thank you again for sharing, Andrea!

Responsibility—that one word sums up Wade Spencer’s existence since his father’s death. Thrust into the role of head of the family, he’s keeping the farm running and his younger siblings in line. When a life-threatening illness attacks his momma, he readily steps in to support her. Sure would be nice to have someone by his side to help carry the load, but all that responsibility hasn’t left much time for dating. Or maybe it’s just his reserved nature holding him back.
Dani Connor had gotten everything she ever dreamed of as a child. Married her high school sweetheart, had a sweet little girl she could shower with all the love she’d been denied by her own parents, and built a life far away from the farm. When those dreams come crashing down, she realizes that back at home on the farm is where she should have stayed.
It doesn’t take long after Dani’s return to Shiloh for Wade to realize she’s the one God has in mind, but Dani will have to get over past hurts and take another chance if she wants Wade to be part of her new dreams.
