Synopsis:
Twelve years ago, Cody Boggs and Louisa Chambers made a pact that no matter where their lives took them, they’d return to Nantucket Island’s Brant Point Lighthouse on July 30, their shared golden birthday, and continue their tradition of exchanging birthday wishes. But that was before a tragic accident upended both of their lives, irrevocably pulling them apart.
Their worlds collide just months before that particular day when Louisa’s fledgling event planning company is hired by the local Coast Guard station, where she discovers Cody has recently returned to the island as the second in command. As they plan a regatta fundraiser, hoping to promote positive PR in the community, neither can deny the fireworks each encounter ignites. But working together also brings up memories of the day Cody’s father died, revealing secrets that have Cody and Louisa questioning everything they thought they knew and felt about their families and each other.

Filled with broken lives in need of redemption, Is It Any Wonder touched my heart.
Many had been hurt when Daniel Boggs died twelve years earlier. Friendships were torn apart. Guilt consumed many of those who knew him. My favorite lesson learned was Cody’s, as he realized that the sacrifice his father made should have resulted in Cody living his life to the fullest, not seeking restitution.
Maggie was probably my favorite character. I loved the way she continued to point Louisa to Jesus. She was no-nonsense, feisty, and not afraid to speak the truth in love.
The mystery of the memorial and the note attached to it drew Cody and Louisa together. For the mystery solvers here, you may be interested to know there were enough clues dropped that I was able to figure out the person responsible – and yet I was surprised at the events that ensued because of the revelation!
While I liked Cody right away, it took me quite a while to warm up to Louisa. She was kind and yet there was something about her behavior and attitude towards Cody that I just didn’t like…
