And they have defeated him by the blood of the Lamb and by their testimony. And they did not love their lives so much that they were afraid to die.

Revelation 12:11 NLT

All Creation Sings

By Davalynn Spencer

Thanks to the faith of my mother, I don’t remember not knowing about Jesus. He was a part of
our daily life. We talked about God when we sat and when we walked and when we went to bed
at night (Deut. 11:19 NIV). We talked about Him at church on Sunday and thanked Him for
every meal because that’s what my parents did.

But God doesn’t have grandkids. Just children.

So at the not-quite- ripe age of nine, during a Billy Graham crusade in Fresno, California, I
decided to be one of God’s children. It’s a choice I’ve never regretted.

My father was a farmer, and I learned early to see God’s hand in the springtime pussy willows,
smell His fragrance on the breath of a newborn calf, and delight in His unfolding plan found in
tadpoles and toads, tree blossoms and stone fruit. I believe those early observations are why
settings are so important to me as an author. The Lord declares Himself through his handiwork in
an ongoing song of love.

He allowed me to sing as well, and in my late teens, I often sang and played guitar at Christian
coffee houses in central California. Not long after I met the cowboy who would become my
husband, I sang and spoke one evening about how I had no real testimony because I hadn’t lived
a dark-to-light life.

My cowboy was sitting in the audience and later told me that I did have a testimony and to never
discount it. My story was one of God’s faithfulness, from childhood to adulthood.

That journey continues, and the ongoing music of God’s love threads through each day, from
meadowlark songs to the rustle of aspen leaves near my Colorado home. The constancy of
creation reminds me of the constancy of the Creator—even when everything goes wrong.

When parents die and loved ones are irreparably injured and life does a 180. When children’s
marriages end in divorce, or jobs dry up along with bank accounts.

I’ve learned that when cars break down and hearts break open, the Creator of matter and what
matters is still there, holding and upholding.

Every. Single. Time.

Because I have set the Lord always before me, He is at my right hand and I’m not destroyed by
bad news and hard times (Psalm 16:8). Because I trust Him to show me the path of life, He also
shows me the joy of His presence (Psalm 16:11), and I can join with creation and sing His song
of praise (Psalm 96:11).

The blessing of knowing Christ for a lifetime is living long enough to witness His faithfulness,
regardless of how long that lifetime is.

Thank you for sharing your “Songs Of Salvation.”
    Blessed Assurance, Jesus Is Mine.
Duet. 11:19 was perfectly fitted to your wonderful testimony. Though all may to know Him differently, we all have our own unique testimony to share with a hurting soul.
    God bless you,
