Based on the title of the book, I thought it was fiction. I even read the description and continued with that misconception!
I am looking forward to reading this memoir. It promises to be quite fascinating. Read on and see what I mean…
The Accidental Missionary: A Gringo's Love Affair with PeruPublication Date May 15, 2019
by David L. Winters, David Bredeman
Setting: Peru Contemporary
Written for: Adults
While sleeping during a missions conference, David Bredeman awakened to a call for everyone to stand. He jumped to his feet, expecting to be dismissed. To his surprise, well-meaning church members surrounded him and began praying. He learned that he inadvertently volunteered to become a foreign missionary. Days later, David found himself learning the ropes in Lima, Peru. Whether swashbuckling through the jungle or learning the language, his adventures proved entertaining and often funny. Everything began to make sense when a brown-eyed beauty caught his eye. Will the strict rules of her Bible college and David's adventures over the Andes conspire to keep them apart?
Come along for the adventure of a lifetime.
David Bredeman's story is told by David L. Winters
David Winters, the author, shared some fun facts about himself that I am passing on to you.
What is an interesting fact about you?
I love birds and always have one or more. The current one is unimaginatively named “Birdie.” A love bird, she likes to shred paper and sit on my shoulder critiquing my work. When she goes to the bathroom, I re-write the scene.
Why write about the things you do?
I’m all about stories. Even my non-fiction includes many stories. With all that time in management, I’ve got a bunch of them. My current book with David Bredeman tells the fascinating story of an every-man/carpenter who suddenly ends up on the mission field. When not swashbuckling through the jungle, he fell in love with a Peruvian beauty. So many factors conspired against them, but he was a persistent suitor. I laughed a lot while writing the book with him and I think most readers will do the same.
Who is the favorite character you have written?
Antonio is the hero of Driver Confessional, my Uber murder mystery. He continues in an upcoming book called Stock Car Inferno that will be out later this year with Brinstone Fiction.
