Synopsis:

An unusual arrangement brought them together. Their clashing personalities are likely to drive them apart. Is it remotely possible that love could take them both by surprise?

Brandon Murphy is stuck. He works alone every day, out in the woods, exactly as he wanted. Trouble is, he hadn’t counted on it becoming so…mundane. So when he receives an unusual request—to show up as the arranged fiancé of an heiress in trouble—he figures he may as well. After all, they’ll have six months to decide whether to go through with the marriage. It might just be the spark his life’s been missing.

And oh, are there sparks! Just not the sort he was hoping for.

Megan Alexander is livid. Not only has her father driven away the fiancé of her choosing, but her mother has written to a complete stranger, asking him to come and fill that now-vacant role. What modern woman would consider such an arrangement? Determined not to comply with the insane deal, Megan comes up with a plan of her own: drive the crazy man who agreed to such an idea away—preferably at a run.

From their first disastrous meeting, both Brandon and Megan are certain they will never get married. Ever. But Megan’s plans for her future rely on Daddy’s goodwill, so she needs to see the six months through. And Brandon gave his promise on that time frame; he’ll be a man of his word—even if it kills him.

Six months and they can walk away. Because there’s no way they’d ever consider the alternative…is there?

Who You are is book 6 in the Murphy Brothers Stories; Christian novels full of romance and redemption. Don't miss this family of seven brothers as they navigate through life, faith, and love.

It is next to impossible for me to pass up a Jennifer Rodewald story! I had no idea three years ago, when I read my first story by her, how much I was going to love every word she writes!

In Who You Are, Megan struggles with insecurity and her perceived need for acceptance by the superficial social set that has looked down on her all her life because of her family’s humble origins. She was not an odious character despite having well earned the nickname “Brat”, as Brandon dubbed her. It was easy to see behind her façade to the vulnerable woman who just wanted to know she was loved.

Brandon, though noble and kind and desirous of charging in on a white steed and rescuing the princess in peril, wasn’t a perfect hero. Sure, he prayed and only accepted the arrangement because he was convinced God was directing him to, but he was also judgemental and could be unforgiving. Notwithstanding this, he did have a heart that yearned to please God.

The transformation each of these characters underwent as they sought the scriptures touched my heart. I truly appreciate the way the author didn’t make the changes due to the love the characters have for one another but through seeing themselves the way God does and true repentance. Their journey was filled with tender, humorous moments, and pain.

I highly recommend the Murphy Brothers series. It has been great source of satisfaction as these men struggle with real-life problems and overcome them only through the power of the Holy Spirit. I am looking forward to Braydon’s story, which will complete the series.

About Jennifer Rodewald

Jennifer Rodewald (aka J. Rodes) leans toward raw honesty, and isn’t afraid of dark places, because she knows the Light will always break through. Writing for her is a journey of learning. Life on the plains with her personal superman has been pretty awesome—sprinkled with dark and light places. They have four kids to keep things chaotically interesting, and her favorite advice to them is “to be your best weird self.” Jen’s tendency to be loud—she calls it a blessing to have a “coach’s voice”—is a family trait. Ultimately, she believes Love has conquered all—we just haven’t reached the HEA ending yet.
