Will Not See

by Chautona Havig

Series: Sight Unseen #2
Published by Wynneword House
Publication Date August 29th 2017
Genres: Action/Adventure, Mystery, Clean Romance, Christian Fiction
Pages: 340

Synopsis:

When Vikki Jeffries wakes up in a Rockland hotel with no idea of who she is and why she can’t remember… well, anything, the Rockland medical community begins to take a closer look at what may have happened to cause a second case of inexplicable amnesia.

But for Vikki, this is more than a medical anomaly–it’s her life. What is she doing in Rockland, thousands of miles away from her home in Apache Junction, Arizona? Who is she? Why is no one looking for her? Or are they?

The secrets of a past she's discovering she doesn't want to know lay locked away in a memory that refuses to acknowledge their existence.

When Brandon Marana finds his neighbor struggling to open her front door, his quiet life becomes a race to protect Vikki and himself from people who are determined to find her.

He's falling in love with her--but he shouldn't. He's a Christian. She's not. But the more she depends on him to know who she is and learn why these things keep happening to her, the stronger those ties become.

Will Not See: Sometimes, the past needs to stay there.

Will Not See is the second book of the Sight Unseen series.  This series is one where all the books go together and has cliff-hangers, though there is at least some semblance of closure to each book.

This book was a bit darker than any of the other books by Chautona that I’ve read.  The subject matter was heavy – Vikki (or Tori, depending on who knew her) in dealing with memory loss and discovering things about her tragic past that she would rather have left behind.  Add a stalker or two, men who are clearly trying to kill her and it is the perfect recipe for a suspenseful mystery.

There was a particularly violent scene, when Brandon, Vikki’s neighbor withholds her location from the thugs who are after her.  Yeah, I get why it was there, but I wish the details weren’t shared.

There were also some parts of the book that were disjointed.  I’ve seen this in other books by the author, especially her suspense ones.  I think the idea is to leave details hidden, but it just leaves this reader confused.

Other than that, I did enjoy the book.  There is clearly Christian content, but Chautona Havig has a gift for presenting it in such a way that it is not preachy or overt.

The ending made it clear that there will be a follow-up to this story.  I plan on reading that one when it comes out as well.

About Chautona Havig

Chautona Havig lives in an oxymoron, escapes into imaginary worlds that look startlingly similar to ours and writes the stories that emerge. An irrepressible optimist, Chautona sees everything through a kaleidoscope of It’s a Wonderful Life sprinkled with fairy tales. Find her on the web and say howdy—if you can remember how to spell her name.
