Today, I have author Cari Lynn Webb with me. You may remember her from The Rancher’s Rescue which I reviewed last month. But we are talking about a different series this time, City by the Bay. Grab a nice cup of hot tea (or coffee if you must), sit back and relax as we get to know her.
[Me] Cari, thank you so much for joining us here today.
Other than the ability to create your own happily-ever-after endings, what is your favorite thing about being an author?
[Cari] Other than getting to work out of my house and spending most days in my comfy clothes (aka pajamas) and pony tails, I like the writing friends I have made that have become best friends and my writing tribe. There is a very strong writing community in romance and I can’t say enough about the support I’ve found among other authors. I also really like meeting readers – it is so much fun to meet people who share the same passion about books as I do.
[Me] I’ve loved the author’s I’ve been able to meet and can see that community. It is pretty amazing.
Which person (living or dead) would you most want to be able to interview? What is one question you would ask them?
[Cari] I would want to meet Walt Disney. I’d like to hear about how he came up with his ideas and his inspiration. I’d like to know if he ever imagined how big his dream would become.
[Me] Ooh! That would be fascinating!
If you had the opportunity to live anywhere in the world for a year while writing a book that took place in that same setting, where would you go?
[Cari] This one was easy. 😊 I would live in Scotland. One of my favorite castles there is Linlithgow Palace – such an inspiring place. I would spend the year traveling around Scotland, especially the Highlands, as I have yet to visit the Highlands. And I would visit as many castles as I could – I love the history.
[Me] You have a favorite castle? I love that! I’ll go with you if you want some company. 😊
Can you tell us a little about what inspired the City by the Bay series?
[Cari] I lived in San Francisco for several years and met my husband there, so I have a special place in my heart for the city. I love San Francisco – it is one my favorite cities. I knew I wanted to set a series in a city – I enjoyed city living so much and I wanted to write about characters who shared the same affection for city life. I also wanted to build a community within the city. San Francisco seemed like a natural place to set the series.
[Me] San Francisco is one of my favorite places to visit, though I would go crazy if I lived there! It’s so busy all the time.
Will you tell us a little about Ava and Kyle?
[Cari] Ava Andrews is a retired Army Medic, who returned home to care for her mother with MS. But working as a paramedic in San Francisco keeps Ava in the same high stress situations she’d endured on the battlefield. Ava longs to become a Physician’s Assistant and put the past behind her, but her mother’s care comes first.
Kyle Quinn needs a new invention to meet the terms of the contract that made him an instant millionaire. But watching what has been done to commercialize his medical ear-bud alert device has robbed him of all inspiration. Kyle must comply with the terms of his contract in thirty days or face steep penalties.
Neither Ava or Kyle are looking for love and the road to falling in love proves challenging and difficult for them both. However, Ava learns that opening her heart to love gives her the courage to reach for a life she thought only a fantasy. And Kyle discovers that while happiness can’t always be bought, a truly fulfilling life can be his, with the woman he loves beside him.
[Me] The book sounds great! Thank you for visiting.
Readers, here is more info for you about the book, along with a preview of it and some of the others from the series.
