A year has passed since the curse was broken. Even though Kyona is now Scarlett's home, she knows she must face the demons she left behind.
But when Scarlett and Jonan set out for Nohl, they don't realize the danger that awaits them. Unknown forces are at work in Balenol, and Scarlett's opportunity to reconcile her past quickly becomes a desperate fight to save not only her husband, but her future.
And with every reason to turn her back on the kingdom that has rejected her, she will have to decide whether she is willing to risk everything she's built to fight for the future of Balenol itself.

From the moment Scarlet and Jonan set foot on Balenol soil, things went from bad to worse. I was caught as much off guard by the events as I imagine Scar and Jo were!
With twists and plots and intrigue and deception, Captive’s Return is short but packed with everything that belongs in a fantasy story. Seeing Jo and Scar as a young married couple was so sweet as their love caused each of them to continually attempt to sacrifice themselves for the other.
I am glad for the way the books in this series are being released one after another. This means there is very little time in between for me to forget the events of the previous book by the time the next one has come out. Not that I’m likely to forget – these fast-paced stories are so fascinating they stick with me.
I highly recommend this series and anxiously look forward to Legacy of the Curse, which releases in just a couple more weeks!
