How to Gift a Kindle Book

If you have readers on your gift giving list who prefer electronic books, Amazon makes that process fairly painless.

First, you need to find the book you are planning on gifting.  Make sure you have the Kindle version selected.  Once you do, there will be a button on the right side under the “Buy now” button that says “Give as a Gift”.  I’ve outlined that button in the screenshot here.

Once you click on that button, this screen appears, in which you can specify the recipient, a message that will be e-mailed to them so they know they received this gift, and the date for it to be delivered.  If you are a planner, you could pick all the book gifts for the next year and send them out all at once.

One thing that makes this such a great way to give a gift is that the recipient has the option to exchange the eBook for an Amazon gift card, so if you think they might enjoy a book, but you are wrong, they can pick out a more suitable gift.  I personally like this option, because it shows you have put time and thought into a gift, so it is more meaningful than simply giving a gift card.

It’s easy but so few people think of doing this! “gifting” an ebook is easy and fun. Thanks so much!
