I do not stalk royalty on the internet (or in any other way!). I didn’t watch the royal wedding and can’t tell you much of anything about who the prince of which country is and honestly couldn’t even tell you what countries even still have royalty. Other than Great Britain, that is.
Oh, but Prince Harry does follow me on Twitter. And the crown prince of Dubai. Who knew they enjoyed the same kinds of books that you and I do! Or maybe they are going to make me an heir like that person from Nigeria did…
My point is, I have read every one of Carol Moncado’s books, those about the royal families of the various imaginary countries she has created and the ones about the people of Serenity Landing. There is just something addicting about her books. . .
Her Undercover Prince
by Carol Moncado
Series: Crowns & Courtships #5
Published by CANDID Publications
Publication Date October 5, 2018
Genres: Christian Fiction, Clean Romance
Written for: Adults
Princess Jacqueline Grace of San Majoria is weary. Weary of cameras. Weary of her every move as a “single mom” being criticized. Weary of people who know nothing about her except what they see in a 30 second sound bite knowing how to run her life better than she does.
Weary of being alone.
In walks Dave Smith. With a gorgeous accent and magnetic personality, his presence both calms her and stirs up emotions she has little experience with. Jacqueline Grace isn’t sure what to think when her father sends Dave on a trip as her undercover bodyguard.
Shared experiences - including each raising a daughter they’re not related to - bring them together, but secrets could tear them apart. Secrets about her foster daughter’s parentage. Secrets among those tasked with protecting them from outside threats. Secrets about what really happened between them when a passport was lost overseas.
Secrets about who Dave really is.
When her family and the Quatremaines get together to finally publicly celebrate her sister’s secret marriage, threats and secrets merge. Is Dave the secret to countering the threats? Is he more than her undercover bodyguard? Could he be Her Undercover Prince?
I would like to thank Carol Moncado for giving me this copy of the book. This gift did not influence my opinion or review. Also in this series: Heart of a Prince, The Inadvertent Princess, The Indentured Queen
Dave was an unexpected complication in Princess Jacqueline Grace’s life. Her strong attraction to the man she believed to be her father’s new assistant valet was just not acceptable to her. Not that she was a snob, because she really wasn’t. It was out of a concern for her country and how they would react after so many of her siblings married “commoners” (my word – not hers!)
I was so proud of this princess for the way she reacted when she was given such a horrible slight by the Trade Minister of Athmetis. The way she stood up for herself and her country in such a strong yet gracious manner had me cheering for her!
Other than the cloaking of both his identity and his reason for being on San Majoria, Dave was an amazing guy. After two dates with a woman, she left her daughter in his care for a few hours and then never returned. While he could have turned little Mary over to the state, he chose instead to nurture her and be a stable influence in her life, even though it slowed down his mission. He was loyal, humble and kind.
I also loved seeing King Edward at work again. He has been so delightful as he helps his adult children through life and tries to help King Benjamin as well. In this book, though it wasn’t blatant, it appears that he enjoyed the role of matchmaker.
There were a number of twists in the story. I was surprised by some of the events and enjoyed the way so many of the royals from so many countries made appearances here.
