So often our perception of God is based on our experience with people. If we have been disappointed, hurt or let down by others, we assume that God will disappoint us, hurt us, or let us down as well.

Fortunately, God is not like us. He is infallible and his love for us is not based on our performance. The more we understand who God is, what He is like, the more we are able to trust Him. And the more we trust Him and see Him work in our life, the more our faith is strengthened and built.

We recently had a change in circumstances that was making me anxious. I found that I was fretting and trying to figure out how to make things work. Then one day at lunch, while talking with a friend, our conversation turned to a way that God had worked on my behalf in a big way earlier in the year. And as I was recounting to her the story, I recalled another, even bigger way He had done that recently and realized that all my worrying was only because I wasn’t focusing on how faithful He has always been. If I had taken the time to bring to remembrance what He had already done, I could have saved myself a lot of worrying!

Do you understand who God is, what He is like? Spend some time reading your Bible and asking yourself “What is this passage telling me about who God is and what does it mean to me personally?” And if you are struggling, look back and recount the times He has already worked on your behalf.

I remember the days of old. I ponder all your great works and think about what you have done.

Waiting For You

by Andrea Boyd

Series: The Spencer Family #1
Published by Dreamer Publishing
Publication Date January 7, 2020
Genres: Christian Fiction, Clean Romance
Setting: South Carolina Contemporary
Main Character Ages: 25-34
Written for: Adults
Pages: 260

Responsibility—that one word sums up Wade Spencer’s existence since his father’s death. Thrust into the role of head of the family, he’s keeping the farm running and his younger siblings in line. When a life-threatening illness attacks his momma, he readily steps in to support her. Sure would be nice to have someone by his side to help carry the load, but all that responsibility hasn’t left much time for dating. Or maybe it’s just his reserved nature holding him back.

Dani Connor had gotten everything she ever dreamed of as a child. Married her high school sweetheart, had a sweet little girl she could shower with all the love she’d been denied by her own parents, and built a life far away from the farm. When those dreams come crashing down, she realizes that back at home on the farm is where she should have stayed.

It doesn’t take long after Dani’s return to Shiloh for Wade to realize she’s the one God has in mind, but Dani will have to get over past hurts and take another chance if she wants Wade to be part of her new dreams.

Abandoned by both of her parents, Dani’s perception of herself greatly throughout had suffered greatly, despite the love her grandmother showed her. It influenced her choices and actually led her to make a terrible mistake when she chose to get married. She was now living to regret it.

Even worse, this affected the way she viewed God and thought He viewed her. I loved the way she began to look at the many roles God played in her life beyond the role of Savior and how that changed her entire outlook. We could all benefit from spending time pondering who God is to us. . .

Wade had been filling the shoes of his father after the accident that claimed his life. He was the responsible one and didn’t have time to spend thinking about himself. He was such a noble and caring man!

I really enjoyed this sweet story. The spiritual lessons are so important for us to understand. As Dani learned how loved and wanted she was by God, she was able to accept the love others had for her as well.

Piper, Dani’s daughter, was so cute! I loved the way she trusted Wade immediately and formed such a close bond with him. And the way Wade was so enamored with her! And what he did with the pony and the llamas. . . Awwww!

I’m looking forward to reading more stories about this family!

If you enjoy sweet romance with a strong spiritual message, you will want to read Waiting for You.
